The old police station revived

In the centre of Malmö, southern Sweden, residential developer Riksbyggen has rebuilt an old police station. Behind the impressive facade, in the old prison courtyard three matching residential buildings has been built. A total of 122 new apartments and town houses have been built, ranging in size from 24-188 square metres. The courtyard includes an orangery that residents can use. The old police station, which was built and completed in 1934, has been carefully rebuilt and renovated to preserve the old architecture, resulting in apartments with generous spaces and preserved details from the past.

Award-winning project

The development has been nominated for and won a number of awards, including the Urban Development Award 2022 from the City of Malmö and best new development 2021 by Sweden Green Building Council.
